Maine Restaurant Week is Monday, March 1 through Wednesday, March 10 . This is the second year for the statewide event, offering diners an affordable and fun reason to explore new restaurants or visit an old favorite during March, traditionally one of the quietest months of the year for Maine restaurants. Participating chefs will once again showcase their signature dishes on specially priced, prix fixe menus. In 2010, restaurants will serve three-course meals priced at 20.10, 30.10 or 40.10 during Maine Restaurant Week. Two additions this year: a few select inns, hotels and B&Bs, inlcuding Portland Harbor Hotel, will be offering special lodging rates and some restaurants will serve an optional lunchtime Restaurant Week menu for 15.10. All participating restaurants, their menus, lodging partners and special event information can be found at www.mainerestaurantweek.com.

Maine family favorite Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia returns with two new puppet-theater productions featuring cuddly rabbits – Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. Mermaid Theatre brings its whimsical puppetry, dreamlike imagery, original music, and soothing “bunny banter” to these childhood classics.

Glorious, powerful, intelligent - Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) is dance that energizes, inspires, and feeds the soul. DCDC presents the work of three of the most creative geniuses in American dancemaking, drawn from the company's participation in the Kennedy Center's festival Masters of African-American Choreography: Donald McKayle's masterwork Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder, about a group of men on a prison chain gang; Tony-nominated choreographer Donald Byrd's JLawrence Paint (Harriet Tubman Remix), inspired by the paintings of Jacob Lawrence; and hip-hop-inflected dancemaker Rennie Harris's Jacob's Ladder, also informed by a Lawrence painting. DCDC recently marked its 40th anniversary performing the world's largest repertoire of works by African-American choreographers.
